With Valve having revamped the qualifying system for the ESL One Rio Major, we have compiled all the information available about the first tournament that will award points towards the $2 million event.
The qualifying process for the sole Major of 2020 starts later this month with the Spring Series of the Regional Major Ranking (RMR), which will be hosted by ESL. The tournament, called ESL One: Road to Rio, will see 56 teams across six regions compete for ranking points and for their share of a $255,000 prize pool supported by Valve.
The vast majority of the teams competing in ESL One: Road to Rio were the ones that had either secured spots at the Rio Major after finishing top-14 at the StarLadder Major or had qualified for the Minors via the closed qualifiers. However, there are still 11 slots up for grabs, with details about how they will be filled expected to be released in the coming days.

Flashpoint partner c0ntact will be taking part in the North American competition as they are currently unable to travel back to Europe to defend their invitation because of the coronavirus outbreak. According to Valve, any points gained will be reset in case the team decide to switch their region to Europe in the future.
HLTV.orghas reached out to ESL for comment about the reason why c0ntact will have to compete in North America while two other European Flashpoint contestants, Dignitas and Copenhagen Flames, will play in their own region.
Below you can find the details about all the ESL One: Road to Rio competitions:
